Start with a vehicle

Identify a vehicle or search a symptom

No VIN needed: type a year, make and model, a customer's name, a trouble code or a symptom — or jump straight into your open cases.

Nothing published yet

When a case resolves with a confirmed fix, such as a clean road test or a re-scan with no code return, TechBench drafts a shop-log write-up here for review before it is shared.

VIN lookup or manual entry

Step 1 of 2. Save the vehicle, then you'll describe the customer's complaint to open the case.

The VIN changed. Press Decode (or Enter) to look it up again.

NHTSA can't tell which of these engines this model came with. This is every engine in the maker's VIN table for the year.

Saved Procedures — coming soon

Saving procedures isn't available yet. For now, look things up in the OEM Library or with the workshop manual buttons on each vehicle.

Reference

OEM Library

Real manufacturer service bulletins submitted to NHTSA — not a full OEM procedure library, and not technician guidance. Each result is badged with its source.

People and roles

The owner, service managers, assistant service managers and the shop foreman can publish fixes to every shop. Technicians write cases and drafts.

Workshop manuals

The manual services your shop pays for. Cases and vehicles get a button that opens the service's own sign-in page. TechBench never stores your manual logins or copies manual pages. Services marked "name only" don't allow other sites to link to them, so open those from your browser.

Sign in on another iPad

On a new device, or after you are signed out, choose Sign In and type this code with your name and PIN. Invite codes are only for people joining for the first time.

Shop colours

Match the colours to your shop, the make you work on, or your dealership: start from Default or set your own four. Everyone in your shop sees them, in light and dark mode. Text colours are worked out for you and kept readable whatever you pick.

In light mode the page and cards are shown as a pale version of your colour, and in dark mode as a deep one, so text always has room.

🔧 Torque, the AI lookup helper

Torque lets your technicians ask questions about an open case. To answer, it sends that case's details (vehicle, complaint, symptoms, trouble codes) and the matching stored bulletins, code definitions and published fixes to an AI provider, which only picks which of those to show. It gives no repair steps, specs or diagnosis. Turning it off here switches it off for everyone in your shop.

Invite your team

Only the shop owner can create invite codes. Ask them for one.

🔧 Ask Torque AI lookup

Torque searches what TechBench has stored for this case (matched bulletins, code definitions, published fixes) and shows you the source itself. It gives no repair steps, specs or diagnosis. Torque's picks and reasons are written by AI and can be wrong; check the source.

Open a case, then ask Torque about it.

Write down your shop's sign-in code

You'll need it, with your name and PIN, to sign back in on a new device or after you're signed out. Your team will need it too. You can always find it again in Settings while you're signed in.
